M&C Shipping - Operations Supervisor (Apply Now!!)

M&C Shipping is seeking to recruit an Operations Supervisor.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To supervise operations processes with the aim of ensuring that all vessel operations are performed efficiently and effectively under the guidelines established by our Principal Carriers and that all documentation requirements of Authorities, Principals and Customers are met.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Attending to Vessels (Cargo, Tankers, Break-bulk, Naval, Pleasure Crafts etc.), which includes coordinating berthing arrangements and boarding and clearing vessels.
Coordinating the working program for all vessels and ensuring that personnel are adequately assigned to work each vessel.
Assisting Accounting personnel with the preparation of proforma invoices for vessels intending to call at Port Castries, Hess and Vieux Fort and those intending to remain at anchorage.
Providing ships’ chandlery services and coordinating the clearance and delivery of ships’ spares/stores upon request of principal.
Supervising the Documentation and Customer Service functions within the Dept. and ensuring that prompt and efficient customer service and support is provided by counter staff.
Authorizing release of cargo upon presentation of required documentation, preparation of ‘out of charge’ etc.
Responding to customer queries by telephone and ensuring that principal/agent network cargo queries are handled expeditiously.
Conduct continuous assessment and performance appraisal of Operations and Customer Service personnel including participating in and recommending requisite training/skills development for the team.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
Secondary school education with Grade 1 or 2 passes in at least five (5) CXC subjects at general level, including Mathematics and English Language.
At least three (3) years’ experience working in a shipping environment – shipping agency experience would be an asset.
Experience boarding and clearing vessels.
Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate a team and utilize performance management techniques.
Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of Asycuda++ and/or Asycuda World for the purpose of data entry and customs processing
A track record of service excellence.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work long flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
