Maintenance - Technician (Building)
JOB SUMMARY
Responsibility for the installations, maintenance and repairing of building & plumbing services work
assigned by the Facilities Supervisor/Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out routine inspections of all building and plumbing installations and related accessories of all NIPRO managed properties.
Undertake repair work in carpentry, masonry and plumbing according to assigned work orders.
Undertake carpentry works by repairing or replacing doors, walls, floors, steps, window frames, cupboards, roofs, tables, chairs, and other wooden fixtures.
Undertake masonry repair work such as preparing cement; patching and finishing cement work and replacing damaged masonry.
Undertake plumbing works by installing, unclogging, repairing, or replacing sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, drains and water lines and where necessary clean grease traps.
Report unsafe conditions for buildings, grounds and any other hazards to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
Maintain all tools and equipment being used and report those needing repair to the
Maintenance Supervisor.
Fix or replace water pumps serving buildings.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Ability to safely operate electrical tools and equipment used in building maintenance.
Ability to perform routine carpentry, plumbing and masonry work.
Ability to perform a range of tasks under arduous working conditions.
Ability to perform maintenance tasks in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Valid Driver’s License.
Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Certificate or TVET qualification in Building Trades, Building Construction or equivalent.
At least two (2) years’ experience performing a building maintenance function is required.
