We are looking for a talented individual who shares our values to join our team as HR Business Partner and support the businesses within our Shipping and Services Divisions. The ideal candidate is an experienced, resourceful people-focused expert who will contribute to the success of our businesses through consulting, identifying and delivering HR services and solutions that will result in enhanced business capability, performance and employee engagement. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Strategic HR Support

  • Collaborate with department leaders to align HR strategies with organizational goals.

  • Contribute to and drive enterprise-wide HR initiatives and support transformation efforts.

  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of HR procedures and suggest improvements.

  • Assist with developing HR procedures and policies which align with business goals and ensure consistency.


Talent Management 

  • Support the Talent Acquisition Partner to ensure a timely, organized and comprehensive procedure is used to hire. This process will include supporting hiring managers with the development and revision of Job Descriptions, interviewing and shortlisting applicants. 

  • Guide and support performance management processes including, talent reviews, succession planning, developing KPIs, goal setting and leadership development conversations in partnership with HR leadership.

  • Partner with managers to identify talent needs and support workforce planning.

  • Drive business wide onboarding initiatives. 


Employee Relations

  • Be a trusted partner to leaders and employees, offering real-time HR support and guidance grounded in strong business context.

  • Lead investigations into employee relations concerns, helping ensure fair, thoughtful, and compliant resolutions.

  • Support the Divisional HR Manager with the creation and implementation of employee engagement strategies.  

  • Champion Health and Safety initiatives.

  • Conduct routine site visits to business locations island wide.


Learning & Development 

  • Assist with the execution of employee and manager training and professional development programs.

  • Identify training needs and recommend learning solutions to support employee growth. 

  • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and adjust as needed. 


HR Policy and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies while advising leaders on complex employee relations and organizational issues.

  • Interpret and apply HR policies consistently across the organization.

  • Support audits and risk management initiatives related to HR practices.

  • Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with internal and legal standards. 


Data and Analytics 

  • Preparation of routine HR reports inclusive of HR metrics to be used by the management team for business decision making.

  • Use HR metrics and analytics to inform business decisions. 


Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate HR initiatives and updates effectively to stakeholders.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to support business objectives.

  • Prepare monthly newsletters which seek to promote employee engagement and enhance communication.

  • Contribute and support the execution of internal activities. 


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management/Administration or a related field.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar HR role.  

  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset. 

  • Strong knowledge of the Saint Lucia labour legislation and its application. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong presentation skills. 

  • Proven experience delivering training workshops. 

  • Competent in negotiation and conflict resolution. 

  • Must be able to work with a resource base of more than 100 employees. 

  • Proficiency with MS Outlook and Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience working with HR Information Systems is an asset. 

  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects, be flexible to change, and adapt to shifting priorities

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.


LICENSES

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to easily travel island wide.
