Bambou Resort in Martinique invites qualified applicants from Saint Lucia to apply for the following position.


Position Overview

Job Title: Kitchen Commis

Department: Kitchen / Food Production

Location: Trois-Ilets, Martinique (97229)

Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (6 months)

Working Hours: 39 hours/week, including weekends and public holidays

Hourly Rate: €12.31 gross/hour

Experience Required: Minimum 1 year

Qualification Level: Skilled Employee

Industry: Hotel & Hospitality (100–199 employees)


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preliminary preparations (peeling, cutting, weighing, seasoning)

  • Assist in preparing dishes according to technical sheets and chefs' instructions

  • Set up the workstation before service

  • Plate dishes and garnishes under the supervision of the Chef de Partie

  • Take part in buffets, live-cooking stations, and special events as scheduled

  • Apply HACCP standards and internal hygiene procedures

  • Monitor temperatures, traceability, and product rotation (FIFO)

  • Maintain cleanliness of the workstation, equipment, and shared areas

  • Report any equipment issues or non-conforming products

  • Collaborate effectively with other stations (cold, hot, pastry, dishwashing)


Required Skills & Attributes

  • Discipline, cleanliness, and attention to detail

  • Team spirit and respect for hierarchy

  • Rigorous and precise in execution

  • Responsive and adaptable under pressure


Education & Languages

  • CAP, BEP or equivalent qualification in Culinary Arts required

  • English: basic working knowledge

  • Knowledge of HACCP rules essential


Working Conditions

  • Weekend and public holiday work required, according to schedule

  • Uniform provided by the establishment, mandatory wear

  • Possible participation in special events (themed evenings, brunches, outdoor buffets)
