M&C Shipping is a subsidiary of GEL and part of the GEL Shipping Division which comprises several entities providing a diverse suite of shipping, logistics, brokerage and tour services in the St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada and Barbados. We are looking for an experiences and talented Business Development Representative. This position reports to the General Manager.
The Role
The primary objective is to increase the company's market share and expand the customer base through direct marketing activities and effective execution of the company's sales and marketing strategy.
Responsibilities
Solicits new business through in person visits and telemarketing.
Skilfully negotiate terms, prices and conditions to close deals.
Liaise with key Principal personnel for rate quotations, cargo bookings, cargo tracing, consolidation and other service-related functions.
Prepare service contracts and rate proposals for filing with the Principal's pricing departments.
Support the development and implementation of effective sales strategies to maximize revenue.
Acquire market intelligence and execute new business development research.
Track and analyze sales metrices to evaluate business performance.
Qualifications, Experience and requirements
An Associate Degree in Business Management.
At least two (2) years of successful sales experience.
Knowledge of the shipping industry is an asset.
Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
Computer literate – the successful candidate must display proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
Must have access to a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license to facilitate customer visits.
